Humility in Prayer

Have you ever been stuck on a homework question, but never asked for help? Or had an issue at work that you were struggling to solve? I was in a similar situation recently when I thought maybe I should pray. It was almost a strange idea at first. Why had I never thought of it?

Pride. Pride was the reason. Pride saying “I can figure this out on my own.” Surrendering is hard for me ( not that it isn’t hard for everyone). I don’t normally bring my problems to God. Stressed out from school and work, yet I wouldn’t pray.

Praying is humbling yourself. It is saying “I can’t do this on my own. I need help.” Oftentimes we assume some things we can do by ourselves and others God can take care of. But that’s not the case. As 1 Peter 5:7 says ” Cast all your anxiety on him”. That means Everything! Not only should you pray for your up coming test or job interview, but also for seemingly small things too.

It could be praying that you don’t press snooze on your alarm. Or when you have a bad day at work or school and pray that God will help you make it through. There are so many things that seem too trivial to bring to God.
